40 Years of "SMilestones"
1986: The Beginning
In 1986, Jim Broadhurst, then leading Eat’n Park Restaurants, introduced a game-changing menu item inspired by his favorite childhood treat: the Smiley® Cookie. Soon, every Eat’n Park restaurant served Smiley® Cookies, with children receiving a free Smile with their meal. This special treat would become synonymous with Pittsburgh, evolving into an unofficial city ambassador accross the region.
2006: Growing Smiles
As demand for Smiley® Cookies grew beyond the restaurant, SmileyCookie.com launched in 2006 —making it possible to ship smiles anywhere in the U.S. No longer just an after-meal treat, Smiley® Cookies became a go-to for gifts, holidays, and special moments. Today, fans of all ages can enjoy a sweet taste of nostalgia delivered right to their door.
2026: The Coolest
It started as a simple smile—today, it’s an award-winning Pennsylvania icon. In 2026, Smiley® Cookies were named the “Coolest Thing Made in Pennsylvania” by the PA Chamber, a recognition that celebrates the joy, nostalgia, and tradition behind every cookie.
